The beloved Folly Theater needed a spring appeal campaign that celebrated the 50th anniversary on the National Register of Historic Places. A simplified façade, a swinging wrecking ball and a playful palette and lots of confetti got the job done.

Center Cut Records, a new local record label needed a logo.

And t-shirts, and flyers, and a podcast logo, and…

For the 2018 benefit luncheon, Kansas City Young Audiences decided it was time to rebrand and refresh the event.

I was asked to create a logo and all associated print and digital materials. The new name: Spark the Arts in Young Hearts.

A local historic home, The Wornall House, has an ambitious plan to redesign it’s grounds into a “learning landscape”. They asked for a booklet to excite and inform potential partners and sponsors.

In addition to designing the booklet, I created the Learning Landscape logo and took several of the photos.

The Wornall/Majors House Museums host a fundraising garden tour every other year.

A lovely vintage botanical drawing became the inspiration. Eventually a vintage bee drawing joined the party.

The project included: sponsorship brochure, patron’s party invitation, tickets, day-of program, stickers, social media and web images.

A benefit concert featuring Tony Award Winning Renee Elise Goldsberry with the Kansas City Symphony.

In 2019, this newly expanded partnership needed a logo, a brochure for an upcoming symposium, and a postcard.

A year later, a new brochure for this years symposium was created. It’s nice to see a series start forming.

Times are tough for non-profits right now. Funds are desperately needed to fill in the gaps and keep the lights on while we all adjust to the new issues we’re facing. Therefore, fundraising has become even more critical.

Because time is so critical, the Sunrise Fund was created in just a couple weeks - from initial brainstorming, to final logo and assets.

Twice per year schools receive these brochures highlighting available programs and resources.

I also create a printed catalog (approx. 40+ pages) every year that contains all programs and details. I upload these to issuu.com.

Kansas City Young Audiences is a non-profit dedicated to arts education for Kansas City’s kids. They were in need of donation cards to encourage luncheon attendees to support their cause.

We decided on a folded card that could stand in front of each place setting. The perforation allows for half to be placed in an envelope with payment, and the other half - which includes the mission statement - can be kept.

Web design is not really what I do. And I certainly don’t code.

However, I have helped a couple of customers redesign their websites by developing a style guide that they then implement. I suggest changes to their current sites (fonts, colors, alignment and layouts) and can source the photography. I also provide necessary icons, illustrations or backgrounds.

I love cleaning up a design mess! It’s so satisfying to re-work an old, outdated, or poorly designed piece and breathe new life into it.

Three times a year, KCYA mails a brochure with the upcoming class schedule. Here are some highlights from the last 3 years.

Here’s a hodgepodge of projects I’ve done; some old, some new.

I have formatted 4 books over the years. On 2 books I was responsible for the interior pages only. On the other 2 I also designed the covers.
